FMCSA Presentation ELD

Well folks, here it is! I've been waiting for this presentation to be uploaded to the FMCSA website because it was much better than the pre recorded presentations that were already uploaded. Also, this presentation specifically address the agriculture expemption, which many of you will be interested in. The presentation is less than an hour and more than worth your time to listen and pay attention to. ‼️ PLEASE USE THIS INFORMATION WHEN DRAFTING YOUR COMMENTS FOR THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD‼️ Using their own words and information makes your case much stronger!!! Below I've outlined the exemptions that are discussed in the presentation: ***Agriculture Exemption (otherwise known as MAP 21 Exemption) 🐖 Operations that transport agricultural commodities from the source of the commodities within 150 air mile radius are exempt from recording the driving and working hours. 🐖 Once the driver has traveled beyond the 150 air mile radius, that is when the driver is required to record their hours of service using a paper log. (Notice they said paper log... not electronic log) ***ELD Exemptions (these are 100% exemptions and not to be confused with some of the temporary exemptions that have recently been approved) 🚛 100 air mile radius drivers 🚛 150 air mile radius non-CDL freight drivers 🚛 Driver is only required to prepare paper RODS for not more than 8 days during ANY 30 day period 🚛 Conducting drive away-tow away operations – when the vehicle is the commodity including towing recreational vehicles where at least one set of the wheels have to be on the surface of the road 🚛 Driving vehicles manufactured before model year 2000 (Notice they made no mention of the motor/ECM. This is directly contradictory of some of the print material out there that addressed this exemption.) ‼️The CVSA out of service criteria will not be applied to ELDs until April 2018‼️ I've taken the liberty to identify the personal contact information for the 3 FMCSA officials that you see in this video.
